May’s meetup focuses on organizational clarity, collective decision‑making, and spring deployment planning. We’ll hear updates from the LoRa Working Group, explore how horizontal groups get things done, and close with a consensus‑based discussion on CRM’s proposed organizational charter.
This month’s session runs a little longer to give space for deeper discussion and a full consensus process.

📡 LoRa Working Group: Spring Progress & Participation
The LoRa Working Group will open the evening with an update on their work so far — including:
- Spring deployment progress and early coverage goals
- Development of a standardized dual‑radio enclosure
- Selection of MeshCore as CRM’s primary text‑messaging protocol
- Continued use of Meshtastic for telemetry and environmental insights
- Deployment of observer nodes for mesh health tracking and mapping
- Volunteer opportunities: field testing, coverage mapping, installation support
- Demonstrations of mesh tools and instrumentation — and how members can use them to contribute
This session is ideal for anyone curious about the technical backbone of CRM’s regional network or looking for a concrete way to get involved.
🤝 Mutual Aid Part 2: Getting Things Done
Our second presentation continues the mutual aid series with a practical focus:
How do horizontal organizations actually get things done without hierarchy or coercion?
We’ll explore:
- The role of the general council
- How proposals emerge from membership
- What consensus decision‑making looks like in practice
- How working groups form, operate, and stay accountable
- Why these structures matter for a resilient, community‑driven mesh
This session builds on March’s introduction to mutual aid by grounding the theory in real organizational mechanics.
🧩 Working Session: Proposed Organizational Charter
To close the evening, we’ll put these ideas into practice.
Sam will bring a draft organizational charter for CRM — a lightweight framework describing how we make decisions, form working groups, and coordinate long‑term projects.
Together, we’ll:
- Review the proposal
- Surface questions, concerns, and suggested revisions
- Practice a consensus decision‑making process
- Determine next steps toward adoption
This is a chance for everyone — newcomers and long‑time contributors alike — to help shape the structure that will guide CRM’s growth.
